################################ #Strategic Regions Event Series# #V1.0 #May 25 2021 #Created by Rohi ################################ #A modification for Kaiserreich 1.9.3 #And Hearts of Iron: Darkest Hour v1.05 #IMPORTANT! ######################################################################### #Cheers to all who have contributed within the various Hearts of Iron II and Darkest Hour modification forum threads and wikis available from the Paradox Forum website. #This modification was created by following the instructions shared throughout the various forum threads, and therefore this modification can be considered as a byproduct of the numerous comments and guides shared by others. #In other words, this modification would not be possible without the contributions made by others. #So then, cheers again to the modding guide writers and forum contributors! ######## #DISCLAIMER! ######################################################################### #This strategic regions event modification was created without any knowledge of a similar event chain existing. #Therefore, if a similar event chain already exists, the creator of this event series had no prior knowledge of such decisions and or events. ######## #Mod Background: ######################################################################### #PRIMARY REASON FOR CREATING THIS MODIFICATION: ##### #The primary reason for creating this event series mod was a curiousity to add more "strategic flavour" to both the Hearts of Iron Darkest Hour and Kaiserrech map, especially for the minor countries. #In other words, regions such as the Suez Canal, the Bosporus Strait, the Gulf of Oman, the Malacca Strait, and so on, are worth fighting over and controlling because they will now bring rewards in money, supplies, and victory points. #The basic concept of this modifcation (the notion of strategic regions) was implemented in the Hearts of Iron III map, however to this mod creator's (Rohi's) knowledge, such a feature as "strategic regions" has not been implemented in a Hearts of Iron II or Darkest Hour environment. #Keep in mind, therefore, that with this modification one can acquire additional vicotry points by controlling strategic regions instead of only by controlling specific provinces. #SECONDARY REASON FOR CREATING THIS MODIFICATION: ##### #The secondary reason for creating this event chain was to give the minor countries, such as Colombia, Egypt, Persia, Ethiopia, Philippines, and so on, areas worth fighting over and securing. #Such as that random island north of Somalia, southeast of Aden: Suqutra. #The island, Suqutra, is in an incredibly strategic position in the map. #However, since there are no resources and victory points within the province of Suqutra, it is likely that the province will not be one worth controlling without some incentive. #Hence, now with the strategic region decisions available from this modification, that little island Suqutra is definitely worth acquiring, along with Aden, Djibouti, and so on. #Moreover, when using Colombia, Ethiopia, or Persia, acquring the Panama Canal, the Gulf of Aden, or the Gulf of Oman respectively, will bring a money, supply, and transport capacity (TC) bonus that will be relatively significant considering the size limitations for these countries. #On the other hand, major and middle powers that countrol muliple regions will receive the accumulative rewards from these regions, thus making it worthwhile to acquire the Panama Canal, the Gulf of Oman, the Malacca Strait, and so on, instead of simply fighting to occupy major industrial regions. ######## #Summary explanation of how these startegic region events function: ######################################################################### #Note: This event series is only available to the human player and was designed specifically to provide a strategic bonus to minor nations when they acquire strategic regions (such as Colombia controlling Panama Canal; Egypt controlling the Suez Canal; Persia controlling Gulf of Oman; Siam/Thailand controlling the Malacca Strait; Ethiopia controlling the Gulf of Aden, and so on. #How the decisions and events operate: ######################################################################### #The series of "strategic region events" listed below are activated by a decision only when specific regions are controlled, regardless of whether or not the country is at war. #When available, the decision will launch an event which sets a flag that gives off-map rewards in money, supplies, resources, victory points, and transport capacity (TC). #However, if the country loses control of the regions in the specific event, then the flag will be deactivated and the rewards from controlling the region will be removed. #If the provinces in a region, once lost, are reacquired, then the decision will once again be avaialable to launch the event which will once again activate the rewards. #In other words, the relevant flag for the specific strategic region is activated once all assoicated provinces within a given region are controlled, thereby "turning on" the decision's event;
